LIBRA ASSOCIATION
The Libra Association aims to become a simple global payment system and financial infrastructure that empowers billions of people. To achieve this mission, the Libra Association has to gain members from different industries around the globe.
New Members
The payment system announced the addition of new members on 15-may-2020 through a tweet on their twitter handle. The newly added members include Temasek, Paradigm, and Slow Ventures.
Temasek is a global investment company with its headquarters located in Singapore. It was founded in 1974 and since then has established 11 offices globally. They have a portfolio value of $313B as at March 2019. They see blockchain technology as innovative and necessary for a transformative growth. They provide different use cases, asset class and sectors and also support the use of advanced blockchain technology. This helps them explore, develop and invest in solutions so as to produce a better, smarter world.
Paradigm is a Crypto focused investment firm based in San Francisco. They invest in crypto assets or businesses from the early stage of a project like ideas to the point of maturity.
Slow Ventures, located in San Francisco. They invest in technology companies and those that are centered on science, society and culture. It was originally founded by Dave Morin and a group of friends that came together while building Facebook back in 2011. From the original article on Libra blogs, it is stated that Slow ventures has backed the successful technology driven disruptors including Slack, Postmates and Airtable.
Dante Disparte, Vice Chairman and head of policy and communications for the Libra Association gave reasons for having this new members. He said

Each of these organizations shares our overall mission alignment bringing unique capabilities and long term focus on market development for blockchain and digital assets
The Libra Association continues to grow in membership by adding 3 new members to those announced earlier this year, they include Shopify and Tagomi, Heifer International, Checkout.com.
