Akon, a singer and entrepreneur has been awarded a $6 billion contract by the United States engineering firm KE International.
The consulting and engineering firm has secured $4 Billion from investors for the first and second phase of the Akon City building project.
Akon city phase 1 will see the constitution of roads, hotels, a police station, a school, a hospital, a hospital campus, a waste facility, a mall, and a dollar power plant. Phase 1 is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.
The Akon city phase 2 will end with a complete cryptocurrency city running exclusively on AKOIN cryptocurrency – the announcement stated. Phase 2 will run from 2024 to 2029.
The US engineering firm will have it’s Dubai based Bakri and Associates Development Consultants to oversee and lead the architectural designs under KE International guidance.
KE engineering firm is also managing the design and execution of the $2 billion Mwale Medical and Technology City (MMTC), a city based in western Kenya. The development kicked off in 2014 and is already 85% complete, they are however working to complete it by 2020 December.
The MMTC is anchored by Hampton’s Hospital, a large hospital with 5,000 bed referral and also opened to the public in 2019 and also recently partnered with Akon platform to utilize it’s blockchain based digital transactions.
