The Ethereum-based online betting platform, Augur has announced the date for the launch of Augur V2, this will be the platform’s major upgrade.
The Augur team has announced that the mainnet of Augur will take place on the 28th of July. REP, the native token of Augur will be renamed “REPV1” and the new REP token on Augur V2 will be “REPV2”.
They plan to provide a migration tool within the Augur UI and also provide a full tutorial on how to migrate. All REPV1 holders are expected to fully migrate their REPV1 to REPV2 after the Augur V2 development.
The Augur V2 reintroduces the “Use it or Lose it” concept for Forks. This would mean that all REP (REPV1 and REPV2) holders will have to participate in the network wide market on the newly launched platform Augur V2, when a fork occurs, holders of REP are expected to participate within 60 days or lose their REPV1 or REPV2.
The Augur V2 will come with a lot of features into its platform, one of which is the possibility of using Dai stablecoin for dominating markets.
