The Stealth address is a privacy enhancing technology that requires that the sender of a transaction create a random, one-time address for every transaction, this will help prevent people from tracking or linking payments to a particular recipient. 

Ghost employs the Ring-signature protocol in order to hide a sender’s address. The ring-signature is a type of digital signature that allows for the usage of a single private key to sign a transaction, but this time around with different public keys. The transaction will involve a set of randomly picked involuntary individuals from the blockchain (they are called Decoys) who would potentially sign the transaction. So in a ring-size of 10 participants, it would be extremely hard to identify the one who initiated the ring-signature transaction. Through the RingCT (Ring Confidential Transaction) amounts transacted are kept private and only viewable by the two parties involved in the transaction. 

The Ghost team plan on developing more privacy infrastructures such as Triptych ring-signatures, this will help reduce the amount of disk space consumed in order to store ring-signatures. STAKERS

Ghost has basically stakers in 2 groups, those who create blocks (Stakers) and those who earn through fees and help secure the network (Ghost Veteran) . 

Stakers can earn by creating blocks and earn a portion from the fees generated per block. You can choose the amount of tokens you want for staking. 

The Ghost Veteran Help secure the GHOST network and earn a share of the transaction fees using the staking features for GHOST. They are those who have conducted a public transaction of at least 20,000 GHOST and funds are not to be moved in any way during the period of 30 days. The Ghost Veterans get 50% of total Coins created in a block while the normal stayers who create blocks earn 33%. To join them, you have to fulfill the 2 criteria above.

This is named after one of the spells used in Harry Potter, the spell stops people from spilling secrets, so basically the Mimblewimble is a protocol that allows transactions to be created without having to reveal details of the transaction like the sender, the receiver or the amount transacted. Unlike the popular Bitcoin explorer where the sender’s address, receiver’s address and amount is made public, transactions with Beam cannot be seen and traced through these protocols. The Mimblewimble protocol allows Beam transactions to be completely hidden while still proving that a transaction really did take place, these hidden essential details can only be seen by the two initiators of the transaction (sender and receiver). This protocol works like a simple mathematical trick, any transaction sent is multiplied by an Unknown large number thereby leaving third parties with nothing or a fake figure on the explorer. AUDITABILITY

This is a feature that allows other users (auditor) to know or gain information about a particular individual transaction. This feature is chosen by the owner of the wallet, they generate a key pair for auditing, the key generated can be given to third parties that are in position to monitor the transactions conducted from that particular wallet. The auditors could also alternatively provide owners of wallets with their own public key to add to their wallet. When transactions are conducted, they come with tags which allow these auditors to see and quickly identify transactions on that address. This feature was developed so that users of Beam can give to third parties in their countries or regions if need be for regulations, example are SEC or other regulators.

HOW BEAM COMPETES WITH TOP PRIVACY COINS : MONERO AND ZCASH

CONFIDENTIALITY

MONERO utilizes Ring signatures, ring confidential transactions and Stealth addresses to obfuscate the senders of a particular transaction, amount transacted and the receiver.

ZCASH utilizes a Zero-knowledge proof known as zk-SNARKS, with this protocol Zcash is able to hide the sender, receiver and the amount transacted. Zcash private transactions are not by default. It takes about 1-3 minutes on a PC to actually conduct a private transaction on the zk-SNARKS of Zcash.

SCALABILITY

With every adoption of Monero, its blockchain continues to grow large and possibly might reduce scalability on the network.  BEAM HARD FORK

Beam plans to execute a second Hard fork which will help upgrade the network, this will occur at Block 777, 777 and is expected to hit on the 28^th of June, 2020.

This upgrade will shift the BeamHash II POW to BeamHash III, this upgrade will come with a lot of features on the blockchain like Activating support for confidential assets, activate support for Lelantus mimblewimble, and also support for one sided payment. The only requirements for users are to upgrade their software to the latest version. There will be a compatible release of node, wallet and miner which will be versioned as Eager Electron 5.0. Outside of that, users do not have to do any other task, the upgrade will happen automatically once it hits the Block 777, 777 and no funds will be affected during this process. Wallets are asked to be upgraded to the latest version of 5.0, and any wallet below that version will not be accessible after the Fork except updated. Miners are asked to update their wallets and mining softwares prior to the Hard Fork, after this they are to sit back and keep on hashing as described in the blog.

Zcash offers Privacy options to its users through the use of Zero knowledge proofs consensus and also the implementation of Zero Knowledge Succinct Non-Interactive Argument of Knowledge (zk-SNARKs). 

The zk-SNARKs allows users to prove possessions of certain info without having to reveal those important information e.g. secret keys.

The Zero knowledge proof allows users (provers) to show or prove to verifiers that a particular statement is true without giving any information other than those necessary to prove the statement. A prover could convince a verifier that there is a number that indeed exists, to prove this point he simply has to give the harsh of this number…this would show that such a random number exists without revealing what it is.

The Zero Knowledge protocol makes it impossible for users to track the transaction history of any user of Zcash, this also makes it impossible for users to reject funds just because they have a suspicion that the funds are illegal.

Transaction Types

Zcash has 2 address partners it offers, they are either Private (Z address pattern) and the Transparent (T address). Each address type starts with those letters as stated.

With Zcash, you have these 4 types of transactions options :

When a transaction is conducted between 2 Z addresses, the wallet addresses, amount transacted and the memo filled are all encrypted and not displayed on the blockchain explorer. The transaction will appear on the blockchain explorer and show that fees were paid.These private details can be given out only if the users or owners of this address choose to.

Transactions between 2 T addresses will display on the explorer with full info on address involved and amount transacted just like Bitcoin.

ON-Chain Governance 

In Tezos, all stakeholders can participate in governing the Tezos protocol. The On-chain governing network allows holders of Tezos native token XTZ to vote on decisions that affect the future direction of the project protocol.

So how this works is, say a developer has an idea or a suggestion that he thinks will better the network protocol and probably improve blockchain in some way. They put forward this suggestion with an invoice on the change they plan to implement. All Tezos holders cast a vote on this suggestion. If the suggestion passes, it is then deployed to the testnet, this is to test the proposed idea or change and see if it does all the developer claims it should and how it affects the blockchain. When it does as claimed, XTZ holders cast yet another vote – this time around deciding if it will stay or not, if it’s decided as stay, it’s sent to the mainnet to be implemented.

The On-chain governance protocol helps 3 parties stay active – The Tezos Project, the developers and stakeholders.

The self amendment feature allows Tezos blockchain to make much easier upgrades and always open to adding the latest innovations to its network. BAKING (Validating or Staking)

Tezos has an amusing name for those who help Validate the network, they are known as Bakers. Baking is the act of signing and publishing blocks to the Tezos blockchain. Bakers help the POS consensus by ensuring that all transactions in a block are correct, orders of the transaction are agreed upon, and mostly importantly that there is no double spending occurring.

Bakers are required to deposit a particular amount known security deposit before participating in the Consensus process. One of the differences Tezos shares with Ethereum is the programming language. Michelson is the programming language of Tezos. It facilitates formal verification, this method is commonly used in mission-critical environments such as automotive vehicles, nuclear reactors etc.

The language allows users to prove the properties in their smart contracts through a formal verification process. The programming language is strongly typed, stacked base and does not contain features such as name function, closure and Polymorphism.

A Michelson program is a series of instructions that are run in sequence: each instruction receives as input the stack resulting of the previous instruction, and rewrites it for the next one. The stack contains both immediate values and heap allocated structures. All values are immutable and garbage collected.

The types of the input and output stack are fixed and monomorphic, and the program is type checked before being introduced into the system. No smart contract execution can fail because an instruction has been executed on a stack of unexpected length or contents.

Theta is currently building a peer-to-peer mesh network that aims to solve the issues of poor reach, high-cost setup and a centralized structure, while also using blockchain to create an incentive layer to reward users for contributing to the network and keep the network performance fast.

How Does Theta Work?

There are two major parts to Theta. The first being the video delivery network that is comprised of users who join the network and contribute bandwidth. The second part is the Theta blockchain itself, which is used to reward users for contributing with THETA tokens.

The price of DGB has seen some positive movements recently. It’s hard to see such movements in the Crypto space without a high profile news or release in the crypto space. Some wonder what could have helped make this coin move up in price too. Well, when asked Josiah an admin in the DGB community gave an Honest reply as to what he feels must have helped the price move in this manner, below is his answer to it.

From Josiah’s answer, we could see what he believes has helped the price to make this uptrend movements. He says DGB is basically BTC with another name and that DGB is  more secure, faster, and better than BTC. So here is some similarities between DGB and BTC and then you choose which is better.

SIMILARITIES BETWEEN DBG AND BTC

1) Proof of work – Bitcoin is proof of Work or rather POW and can be mined, same case with DGB. You can check out the official site for Digibyte to know how the mining works and what tools are available.

2) Halving – This is for sure one of the interesting part of BTC. Halving is the process of dividing or cutting out 50% of the total rewards a miner can get for mining or generating blocks. It occurs every 4 years when the block generated on the blockchain hits 210,000 blocks ( 840,000 blocks for LTC). DGB has its halving every month at approximately 175,200 blocks, 1.12% of coins minted are reduced. 3) Transaction Speed/Time – For any crypto to gain mass adoption and hopefully be used in a day to day activity then speed and convenience must be a core factor. DGB transactions are confirmed at approximately 15sec which is way faster than BTC where transactions sometimes ranges from minutes to hours depending on the network as at the time of transacting. This for a fact shows that DGB is 40 times faster than BTC.

4) Exchange Listings – Every exchange today has BTC as a default pair, no one has to pay to list BTC. It is interesting to know that DGB might have this same favor too to an extent. An article released by CCN in 2019 stated that DGB was listed on 80 exchanges without fees.

Rudy Bouwman, the Secretary and Vice chairman of DGB Foundation Confirmed this even adding that it was over 100 exchanges that DGB was listed without fees. How this happened is not known but it’s great to see such developments in the crypto sphere and the fact that some of these exchanges are those with high demanding fees is something to marvel at.

5) Community support –  Its a known fact that BTC has a lot of strong supporters even going as far as top influential individuals and leaders in the crypto space such as CZ the CEO of Binance Exchange and the Bitcoin Maximalist Pomp. DGB too has seen some strong support from the community of investors and well wishers it has, they’ve been cases where it was delisted and the community voiced out, they have helped win popular twitter polls and other crypto engagement, there is hardly a tweet asking for what to invest where you wont see a user comment $DGB.
